A 19-year-old cult follower, who worked as a prostitute serving 30 men a day, stopped for a month when she became ill, North Kowloon Court heard yesterday. But she was lured back to the vice trade after being told her chances of becoming a god would be affected unless she continued. The teenager, who started prostitution in March last year, said she had stopped in May because she felt ill and found it difficult to have sex with men for 18 hours each day. Instead, she found a job as a sales assistant in a boutique, but the court heard she was approached by the alleged cult leader, Mo Wan-lung, 34, who said her progress in 'performing rituals' would 'badly slow down'. The young woman said she went back to work as a prostitute and gave every dollar she made to Mo who said it would go to charity. Yesterday, she said she made at least $400,000 for the cult. 'They said I was almost there. They told me to work harder and do more. 'I was told if I didn't serve enough men, it would become very difficult for me to go up there [to heaven],' said the pregnant woman, who is now reunited with her boyfriend. The court heard she joined the Shamshuipo-based Green Dragon Temple cult in February last year after she ran away from home. She believed the cult's claim that the world would end in July 1999. She was told to work in 'public relations' so she and her family would be protected and would go to heaven. She eventually left the temple in August, realising the cult's demands were strange. Barrister Steve Chui, defending, said Mo was only one of the cult members who went to the temple occasionally. But the woman insisted Mo took the money and kept count of how many men she had served for the day. Yesterday, a 14-year-old girl, who had been introduced to the cult by the victim, said Mo suggested to her the big boss wanted to test her by having sex. She was told she would be paid afterwards. She agreed, because she was scared of the cult, the court heard. But before anything happened, Mo was arrested in September. Mo, the alleged cult leader, has denied living off the earnings of a prostitute. The trial continues today.
