A HIGH Court judge dismissed an appeal by a company against paying severance and back wages to its workers after accusing it of being more concerned about its Lunar New Year holidays than the case. Mr Justice Barnett said he had no sympathy with a letter from Yat Sing Cassette Manufacturing Company in Chai Wan seeking an adjournment on the grounds of a long New Year holiday and having no time to deal with the matter. The company was seeking to overturn a Labour Tribunal decision that awarded a total of $127,000 as severance and back wages to seven workers. Mr Justice Barnett ordered costs against the firm. The workers would be entitled to their money.
