Gainsborough's Boy shaped as if poised to return to winning form before the season closes on June 15 with a promising fourth to Special in the fifth event yesterday. The six-year-old was a winner earlier in the season for trainer John Moore and is now back down to a handicap rating of 62. His fourth yesterday was better than it looked as he was held up a little on the inside when the field came together down the back straight and he kept on well all the way to the line and all but knocked Medic Star out of the tierce spot. Don't give up on Musical Insight who was heavily supported in the fourth race won by Twin Dragons but couldn't run into the placings. The Irish import, a real mud lover, was trapped wide for the entire 2,000-metre journey and, given the torrid trip he had to endure, it was no surprise to see him weakening out of contention halfway up the home straight. Kenzig shaped pleasantly on his return from a bleeding attack when finishing hard on the heels of the placegetters in the Chairman's Prize while his stablemate, Golden Era, might have run the quinella with Citadel in the last but for being wide all the way from his bad draw.
