2-MIN READ2-MIN
COMPUTER software which can block pornographic Web sites is to be put forward as an alternative to the scrapped policy on Internet censorship.
The authorities are working with Internet companies to compile a list of effective blocking packages.
A publicity campaign will tell parents, youth groups and schools how to put them into action.

Broadcasting, Culture and Sport Assistant Secretary Ernestina Wong Yiu-kei said the list was almost complete, despite problems with the software.

The Government will not endorse any particular software type.
The original plan for a central register of sites to be censored for all Internet users was impractical, Ms Wong said.
