Linus Cheung Wing-lam has been chief executive and an executive director of Hongkong Telecom since 1994, with overall responsibility for operations in Hong Kong, China and the region. He is also an executive director of the board of Cable and Wireless, Hongkong Telecom's largest shareholder.
Having graduated from Hong Kong University in 1971, he started his career with Cathay Pacific Airways as a management trainee and subsequently held numerous positions with the airline. Prior to joining Hongkong Telecom he was deputy managing director of Cathay Pacific, overseeing the airline's worldwide commercial activities.
Among his many past and present public appointments, he has been a member of the Hong Kong Government's central policy unit, and a Justice of the Peace. He is active in the Governor's business council and is an adviser to the Chinese Society of Macroeconomics of the State Planning Commission of China. He is married with two children.
