European PC designer Tulip Computer has revamped its server product line in Asia following the preview of its new systems at the CeBIT exhibition in Germany in March.
Jerry Bergsen, product support manager for Tulip's computer systems in Asia, said the Tulip Power server lifted the firm's portfolio into the scalable, multiprocessor server market.
He said this meant Tulip was able to compete alongside heavyweight computing players such as NCR, Digital, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Dell for PC server business.
'We are now very competitive in terms of fault-tolerance, scalability, manageability, redundant power supply and all the other minimum requirements for corporates as they build and expand their computer networks,' he said.
'Our previous server line didn't comply with the market, it didn't quite satisfy everybody.' The old systems were phased out in the first three months of the year.
The entry-level servers are the Vision Line DR.
The high performance PR systems can offer dual Pentium Pro processor configurations while the high-end QP model offers quad processing - up to four Pentium Pro processors.
