The British Army boxing champion wanted in Hong Kong over the death of an engineer appeared before a London magistrate yesterday. It was the first step to extradite warrant officer Barry Peter Miller, who was given continued surety of GBP10,000 (HK$126,700). Australian Gary Tait, 34, died in Queen Mary Hospital on April 29 after a fight outside the New Pussy Cat nightclub in Wan Chai. Miller returned to Britain two days after the incident and has been posted to the Army Physical Training School in Aldershot as part of his bail conditions. He stood in the dock at Bow Street Magistrate Court as Brian Gibbins for the Crown Prosecution Service requested 40 days for extradition papers to be prepared. Magistrate Ronald Bartle agreed so Miller must return to the court on June 25.
