The heads of six international business bodies are to travel to Beijing tomorrow on a mission organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. It is believed to be one of the biggest such delegations in recent years. Sources said the delegation would ask propaganda officials about their expectations of the general chamber's role after the handover. Other topics would include the roles of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office and Xinhua (the New China News Agency) after the handover, trade barriers, and renewal of Most Favoured Nation status. Delegation members include Belgium Business Association chairman Georges Legros, vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hiroshi Hirano, president of the German Business Association Hans Jebsen, and chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce Patrick Paul. The mission is led by chairman of the general chamber James Tien Pei-chun, with vice-chairmen Peter Sutch and Tung Chee-chen - younger brother of Tung Chee-hwa - as deputy leaders.
