The Technology for Tomorrow exhibition will be held at the City University from June 28 to July 4 and 150 groups from China will demonstrate the latest technologies in aeronautics, automation, computers, biological engineering, energy resources and new materials.

Between 30 and 40 organisations from Hong Kong - including higher education institutes such as the Chinese University and the University of Science and Technology, and multinational firms such as Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and IBM - also are expected to take part.

The event has been organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Sector for the Celebration of the Return of Sovereignty Association and the China Association for Science and Technology.

Ricky Ma, of the Hong Kong Industrial Technology Centre Corp, said it was the first time that mainland and Hong Kong experts would combine to display technological advances in the commercial and industrial sectors.

Mr Ma said the main aim was to promote a greater awareness of technological development, rather than selling and marketing particular products.
