Imports fall

China's car imports fell 18.77 per cent in the first quarter of 1997. Exports climbed 9.95 per cent. Imports totalled US$347 million during the period, while exports were $139 million. Imports of whole vehicles plunged 48.97 per cent to 8,000 units, the government said.
