The Liberal Party will not stand for members putting on 'political shows' in the provisional legislature, its chairman Allen Lee Peng-fei warned. He was referring to an attempt by Association of Democracy and People's Livelihood chairman Frederick Fung Kin-kee to amend the 1997-98 Budget when it is tabled for debate on June 7. 'We will not allow anyone to stage political shows in the provisional legislature and we won't waste time hearing their old arguments,' said Mr Lee. He agreed the post-handover administration should put the elderly at the top of its agenda, but that did not mean members should promote themselves. Last week, parties including the Liberals, Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Progressive Alliance adjourned a motion debate on elderly payments.
