Gina G - Fresh (Eternal Records) If Gina G's rapid and phenomenal success in the pop world is anything to go by, Eurobeat is still very much alive and kicking.
Her dance single Ooh Aah . . . Just A Little Bit, which is also featured in her debut album Fresh, has topped charts in Britain, Europe and the United States.
In the past six months it has sold two million copies.
Even the Australian singer, now living in Britain, appears to be surprised by her success. But who could resist that catchy, addictive and commercial debut single - even though it was an Eurovision Song Contest entry? I Belong To You, the follow-up single to Ooh Aah . . . Just A Little Bit, has done just as well in Britain and title track Fresh is likely to do the same.
Produced by Motiv8's Steve Rodway, whose previous credits include remixes of Pulp's hit single Common People and Disco 2000, Fresh is packed with bubbly body-bopping tracks.
In Ti Amo (a 'flamenco-flavoured holiday romance story'), the 25-year-old sounds like Madonna in La Isla Bonita. There are also slower numbers such as Everytime I Fall and I Belong to You, though it is clear here is not where Gina G's strength lies.
