Shanghai teu traffic rises

Shanghai port handled 516,000 teu (20 ft equivalent units) between January and March, up 30.6 per cent over the previous corresponding period.

The number of ships calling at the port declined as the number of larger vessels, up to 5,250 teu capacity, have increased.

Throughput for the year is estimated to be 2.3 million teu, according to a Shanghai Harbour Bureau official.
