The youngest son of late Cantonese opera singer Tang Wing-cheung was beaten up to punish him for quarrelling with his mother over the family fortune, a court heard yesterday. Businessman Tang Siu-wing, 27, said Tong Ko-kon, alias Ko Fei, dragged him out of a VIP room at a Wan Chai club in the early hours of November 29. He claimed Tong, a close friend of his mother Hung Jin-mui, 52, repeatedly beat him around the head and said: 'You will be dead tonight.' Tong said the four brothers and sisters were disrespectful in arguing with their mother over the fortune, Mr Tang claimed. 'He kept hitting my head and saying 'I will teach you a lesson',' Mr Tang said. Tong, 42, a jeweller, pleaded not guilty to criminal intimidation, common assault and claiming to be a triad member. Mr Tang said he did not call police to the scene because he was worried Tong would harm his family. The hearing will continue on June 17 before Eastern Court magistrate Paul Kelly.
