ANGRY stuntman Ko Shou-liang has threatened to abandon his planned leap across the Yellow River in a car today unless public security officers clear bystanders from his ramp. The 260-metre-long ramp is supposed to be sealed off from curious onlookers - but security officers are among those swarming over it to take souvenir photographs. Ko has demanded party official and organiser Huang Baotang take control of the crowds before he agrees to perform his leap. 'I have been forced off the ramp many times. I cannot practise because there are too many people. The situation is a total mess,' he said yesterday. Officials promised to solve the problem by deploying more public security officers to protect the ramp. However, when reporters went to the jump site, officers were among crowds on the ramp, which is made from planks and is cracking. Ko is due to drive his car over a waterfall on the river at the border between Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces. Yesterday, both river banks were crowded with mobile shops selling soft drinks and souvenirs. Cantopop singer Andy Lau Tak-wah was among the fans.
