Lamex jumps 190.6pc to $19.1m in first half

OFFICE furniture manufacturer Lamex Holdings yesterday reported a 190.6 per cent rise in profit to $19.17 million for the six months ended October 31 last year, compared with $6.59 million for the same period in 1991.

Turnover rose 51.4 per cent to $224.37 million from $148.17 million.

Earnings per share were 9.58 cents. No interim dividend was recommended.

Lamex, which was listed in November, intends to strengthen its market share in Hongkong and China.

Its first showroom in China was opened in Shenzhen last month, and a representative office was opened in Shanghai earlier this month.

The company will open a representative office in Guangzhou in the middle of the year, and plans a showroom in Tsim Sha Tsui in May.
