Tickets for the HMS Tamar ceremony are to be allocated by a computer-operated telephone ballot system. A hotline is expected to be set up at the end of next week. Between 3,000 and 4,000 seats have been set aside for the public, but tickets are expected to be limited to two per person. A computerised message will tell callers to enter their ID number and contact number on the keypad. When they call back after the close of the application period the system will tell them whether they have seats. A source said: 'It won't be first come, first served - it will be more of a lucky draw.' People seeking information on the handover and farewell ceremonies can call 1878-222.
