COMMITTAL proceedings began yesterday in Eastern Court against former chairman of Intercontinental Housing Development Holdings Ltd Ch'ng Poh, who faces charges connected with the alleged theft of $127 million from the company.

The full committal is expected to take about six weeks. The 53-year-old Malaysian businessman resigned as chairman to prevent his personal case damaging the company's restructuring plans.
