Cinema audiences will reap Golden Harvest of new titles
As Hong Kong's most famous producer of films, Golden Harvest is a natural for Filmart.
Formed in 1970 by current chairman Raymond Chow, Golden Harvest produces more than 20 titles a year in Hong Kong and its previous successes include such all-time greats as the Bruce Lee classic Enter the Dragon, John Woo's The Killer, and all of Jackie Chan's blockbusters.
Golden Harvest's executive director (exhibition and distribution), Peter Tam, said: 'Hong Kong is an important producer and exporter of film and it needs something of its own - a one-stop- shop for Chinese products.
'While we attend the international markets as a matter of course, our products may be buried there with so many countries around. I hope Hong Kong's Filmart is the first of many.' Golden Harvest is taking seven new titles to the market for sale to Asian and international buyers, including the new Jackie extravaganza, Who Am I?, currently being filmed in South Africa.
Mr Tam is particularly excited about Intimates, directed by Cageman helmer Jacob Cheung and starring Carina Lau, Charlie Yeung and Teresa Lee. A commercial/art house picture, Intimates is a 'real tear jerker'.
Golden Harvest will also be talking to buyers about Stormriders, based on the comic book series and starring Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng. This is a special effects-laden extravaganza with Hong Kong's Centro Digital Pictures providing state-of-the-art computer graphic images. Other Golden Harvest titles selling at Filmart are the yet-to-be-made John Lone vehicle Walk to the Top and Downtown Torpedoes.
