Trainer David Hayes produced a last-day double - and refuted stories circulating in Australia that he was returning to train there.
'It has appeared in some paper but it is absolute nonsense. I'm not leaving Hong Kong, I'll be back here to win the title next season. We gave it everything we had this season but it just wasn't meant to be,' said Hayes.
'Even today it was the same old story. I finished a really close second with Take Charge and then Ivan [Allan] wins with Swifty-Swifty, and I run second with Wonderful Winners.' Raging favourite Topspin (6-5) took the opening event on the marathon card, giving Patrick Payne a record-equalling 27 winners for a three-month stint.
The exciting youngster had far too much on this small field of nine and won comfortably from topweight Corollary (8-1), who did his best under Douglas Whyte to keep the favourite honest.
The South African ace received generous praise from Hayes for his efforts on Wonderful Winners, and then obliged by riding Golden Mascot for the Australian.
Golden Mascot (14-1) won the sixth event comfortably from Lord Ron (30-1), to throw Hayes a championship lifeline briefly.
