FOLLOWING the largest single seizure of cocaine in the territory, a 42-year-old Venezuelan appeared in San Po Kong Court charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug.

  Ruben Dario Herrera Sanchez, also known as Pedro Nel Rojas, is charged with trafficking in about 2.6 kilograms of cocaine.

  He was stopped by customs officers on Thursday in the arrival hall of Kai Tak airport.

  The seized cocaine has an estimated retail value of $4.7 million in Hongkong, but could fetch $11.2 million in Japan, which was believed to have been its ultimate destination.

  Magistrate Mr F. P. Sweeney adjourned the case until March 19. The defendant was remanded in jail custody.
