The brothers of Hong Kong businessman Sam Lau Lam-san, who shot dead his wife and two sons before turning his gun on himself, last night said 'demons' may have driven him to do the 'unthinkable'.
The bodies of Lau, 55, his wife Arlene, 49, and sons Sammy, 21 and Terence, 17, were found at their Seattle home on Monday.
The fireworks dealer had a single gunshot wound to his head, while the others had multiple stomach wounds. A 9 mm semi-automatic Beretta handgun was found nearby.
A suicide letter, apparently written by Lau, referred to 'business and personal problems', police said.
Lieutenant Bill Ferguson said that in the letter, which was several pages, Lau 'accepted full responsibility for what happened'.
Relatives in Hong Kong remain baffled and claim Lau's Causeway Bay-based business, which exports Chinese-made fireworks to the United States, was in a 'healthy state'.
