A record-breaking field of 1,100 runners took part in the Olympic Day Run at the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
East Asian Games gold medallist Ng Siu-ching, the territory's number one female wushu artist, was one of the top local athletes who carried the Olympic torch.
Other Hong Kong athletes, including now-retired female rower Ho Kim-fai, also led participants in the 'fun run'.
The torch was used in the relay before last year's Atlanta Olympics, and was brought to Hong Kong from the world headquarters of Coca-Cola.
The Olympic Day Run is an event on the International Olympic Committee calendar which seeks to promote the Olympic spirit.
