Daewoo plant

South Korea's Daewoo Electronics has started operations at a US$25-million microwave plant in China.

Daewoo spokesman Chung Jae-hyun said the plant would annually produce 400,000 microwaves for sale in China and the United States.

Located in Tianjin in northeast China, the plant hopes to expand production capacity to 600,000 units next year and one million units by 2000.
