I refer to the article 'I'll quit if principles put at risk, says Tung' (South China Morning Post, June 10).
The Democratic Party vice-chairman Dr Yeung Sum's comments in this piece seem disturbing.
I respect Dr Yeung's views. However, Dr Yeung and his ilk might want to allow Mr Tung his right to prove his loyalties, strengths and priorities before judging him.
Crying wolf seems to have rapidly become a favourite Hong Kong pastime. Besides providing fodder for an obviously biased foreign press, this attitude has achieved little else.
Thanks to headlines like 'The Death of Hong Kong', the rest of the world awaits our funeral.
Mr Tung has a grave task ahead. If he succeeds, this territory will be the best place in the world to be in for us all.
If however - and God forbid - Mr Tung fails, not only will Beijing lose the goose that lays the golden egg, but we will all go down as well.
