THE Governor, Mr Chris Patten, is to discuss his push for political reform in Hongkong today with the new chairman of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs sub-committee on Asia. Mr Gary Ackerman is also expected to discuss the upcoming debate onthe renewal of China's Most Favoured Nation trade status with the Governor during his brief stopover in the territory. Congressional aides said the visit underlined the importance Mr Ackerman would give to Hongkong and China issues as the new chairman of the powerful committee handling Asian affairs.
