In 'From the Gallery' (South China Morning Post, June 26), Jonathan Braude referred to my comparison of scale fees for solicitors to taxi meter charges.
His wit is appreciated in that he made the point that the debate was about conveyancing not conveyances. As we all know conveyances has two meanings, that is, vehicles and legal documents concerning transfer of land.
Be that as it may, the point I made was that there are scale fees in many areas of our lives and commercial activities.
I would have preferred him to have alluded to that as well rather than be selective whether in wit or otherwise.
