My family and I moved to Hong Kong from Toronto in early 1996.

Like others who have moved here, we heard a lot about how inconsiderate people in Hong Kong are towards strangers.
On the night of June 11, while on my way home from a Mandarin class, I inadvertently left my briefcase in a taxi.
There wasn't much of value in it to anyone else, but to me it was very valuable. It contained my diary of appointments, medicine for my son and my Mandarin notes.
My husband and I made frantic phone calls to the police, but we didn't have much hope of recovering the briefcase.

When I got in to work, I found that the briefcase had been returned.
