Professor's 'irrefutable' proof of sex slave houses
A Shanghai professor claims he has 'irrefutable evidence' that Chinese women were forced to become sex slaves during the Sino-Japanese war.
Professor Su Zhiliang of Shanghai Normal University said he had found 73 'comfort houses' or brothels used by the Japanese invasion forces in Shanghai.
The Japanese kept hundreds of Chinese in these houses as 'comfort women', the professor found in research conducted with Shanghai Television.
He said he had found letters written by house owner Chen Binrong, which testified against the Japanese war crimes.
In his letters, Chen wrote that his houses were confiscated by the Japanese Army as 'comfort houses'.
Professor Su said most of the sex slaves were Chinese and most died under torture by Japanese soldiers.
