Impotent men in Hong Kong have agreed to test a new drug for their affliction.

American pharmaceutical company Pfizer Incorporated is running trials on the drug called Viagra.

About 60 patients affected by impotence have been selected at Kwong Wah, Prince of Wales and Queen Mary hospitals to test the drug's effectiveness on Asian males.

The trial is expected to last six months.

'Conventional methods are unpopular because they usually require injections or the insertion of a tube directly into the urinary tract, and that hurts,' a Kwong Wah Hospital urologist said.

'Viagra is the first clinically tested drug that can be ingested orally in the form of a pill and is proven effective. It allows users to react to visual and physical stimuli more naturally.' Viagra, which contains the chemical, sildenasil, relaxes blocked blood vessels and allows blood to flow in and stay long enough to sustain an erection.
