THE freight transport and containerisation industries will display their latest technologies and a wide range of services and facilities at the joint World Freight '93 and International Containerisation and Intermodal Expo (ICIE). The event, which begins today and runs until Thursday at the Hongkong Convention and Exhibition Centre, has attracted 85 exhibitors from 21 countries. Exhibitors include freight forwarders, container and intermodal operators, port authorities, shipping lines, airlines, railways, shipping managers and agents. Some exhibitors from Hongkong include Hutchison AT & T Network Services, Jardine Pacific, Bridges Worldwide, Vincent Shipping, ICL and KCRC. From China, exhibitors such as the Shenzhen Pignan Railway, Port of Chiwan, Tianjin North Ocean Container, Shanghai Far East Container Co and Shanghai Pacific will promote their services outside the mainland for the first time. Carrier Transicold from Singapore and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co from Korea have each taken a stand to promote their services. The European contingent includes British Airways, British Airports Authority and British Aerospace Regional Aircraft. Other well-known companies include Lufthansa, Cologne/Bonn Airport Authority, equipment manufacturer Mannesman Demag and the ports of Bremen, Trieste and Hamburg, all from Germany. Other exhibitors include SITA from France, Lerum Tankproduktion from Sweden and Ave Aeroporto from Italy. The three-day session will include a feature called ''World Trade'' which comprises 11 stands, manned by representatives of Hongkong's trade commissions and consulates. Participants include Belgium, Britain, Chile, Dutch Business Association, Egypt, Finland, German Business Association, Indonesia, Italy, South Africa and Taiwan.
