MR Justice Bokhary has been appointed to the Court of Appeal to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Sir Derek Cons, as forecast by the South China Morning Post last week.

Mr Justice Bokhary, 45, becomes the only local judge on Hongkong's highest tribunal. He was born and educated in the territory.
He studied law in Britain and was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1970. The following year he began practising in Hongkong and in 1973 became a Queen's Counsel.
He was appointed to the High Court in March 1989 and conducted the inquiry into the New Year tragedy in Lan Kwai Fong in which 21 people died.
Mr Justice Bokhary is married to Judge Verina Bokhary. They have three daughters.
