The Government may strengthen the railways role of the Transport Advisory Committee, a source said yesterday.
The Mass Transit Railway, the Kowloon-Canton Railway and the Light Rail Transit submit development plans to the committee, but now they may have to get its approval on fare rises.
Provisional legislator and former committee chairman Dr Raymond Ho Chung-tai welcomed any such move.

'It would be unfair to the taxpayers if the three railways were not sufficiently monitored,' he said.
