THE Shanghai A share market rebounded 4.1 per cent after its 10.8 per cent dive on Monday.

  The Credit Lyonnais Shanghai A index ended the day at 8,218.40, up 323.39 points.

   Turnover was low at 35 million shares.

  The B market, in contrast, was mostly down, and the Credit Lyonnais index slipped 0.47 per cent to close at 1,145.11, a loss of a mere 5.39 points.

   Turnover was US$4.02 million.

  Only First Pencil gained, adding 3.1 per cent to close at 67 US cents on slim turnover of $80,000.

   Shenzhen's market had a quiet day. The Credit Lyonnais A Index lost 2.72 per cent to close at 3,145.04 on a very thin turnover of 11.5 million shares.

  The Credit Lyonnais B Index was little changed at 1,529.53, falling just 1.21 points, 0.08 per cent.

  Turnover was low at 2.01 million yuan.

  China Bicycles was the most active Shenzhen B counter, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the B market turnover. It closed at 13.3 yuan.
