The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has issued a directive repeating a ban on officials taking trips at public expense.
The directive cited an agricultural inspector, Wang Shuchun, who was disciplined for violating the ban.
The directive urged all party cadres to learn from Wang's mistakes and stop taking trips using public money.
The directive said Wang accepted an offer by Hubei Cotton General Corporation to go sightseeing in Shennongjia - a national park of primeval forests. The directive said although Wang admitted his wrongdoing and reimbursed the money, he had been given a severe warning.
It called on all cadres to avoid making the same mistakes as Wang and urged those in leading positions to set a good example.
All inspection organs should step up their checks and violators would be dealt with seriously, it said.
