Ishikawajima Heavy Industries (IHI) has won an order from the World-Wide Shipping Group for the construction of a 300,000 deadweight tonne, double-hulled very large crude carrier (VLCC) for delivery in January 2000. The 300-metre vessel will be built in IHI's Kure shipyard.
It is the first VLCC order World-Wide has placed at a Japanese shipyard for more than 10 years.
