The former senior officials who have set up a consultancy together vowed yesterday they would not take advantage of their inside knowledge.
More than 70 former officials set up the Hong Kong Experts Consultancy in January as a subsidiary of the Former Senior Civil Servants' Association.
Shareholders include former secretary for lands and works and association chairman Nicky Chan Nai-keong, KCRC chairman and former secretary for transport Yeung Kai-yin, former secretary for recreation and culture James So Yiu-cho, former secretary for works James Blake and former secretary for planning, environment and lands Tony Eason.
But provisional legislator Ip Kwok-him of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong was worried that they might take advantage of their recent senior rank to obtain benefits for clients.
'There are still grey areas where they might take advantage of information they acquired when serving the government for their own benefit,' he said.
Mr Ip did not rule out following up the case at the public service panel which he chairs.
Managing director James So said the firm was set up so that the expertise of the officials could be used in the fields of construction, trade and industry and security systems.
