UK air services to SAR get post-handover treatment

Britain and Hong Kong signed an agreement yesterday to allow air services between them to continue following Hong Kong's return to the mainland. The agreement was signed by Francis Cornish, Britain's consul-general in Hong Kong, and Stephen Ip, Secretary For Economic Services. Last year, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways, Air Hong Kong, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic operated 9,000 flights between Britain and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Government signed similar agreements with 21 other countries in the period leading up to Hong Kong's return to the mainland.
