The importance of English in the modern world is growing as Hong Kong improves its position as a major tourist hotspot as well as a top financial centre.
And to help people improve their language skills, RTHK is broadcasting a new 13-part television series, English Workshop.
It was sparked by the huge success of the radio and television programme One Minute's English.
English Workshop is broadcast at 9.55 am on Saturdays, on the ATV Home channel.
Executive producer Sheila Cheung Siu-hing said more than 1,000 episodes of One Minute's English had been broadcast since that programme was launched in 1992.
But many viewers and listeners had said they felt the programme was not long enough to explore some important details of English usage.
The new show uses pictures and news footage to give 'straightforward' explanations of grammar.
