Publishers Origin Sources is investing more than $1 million in an international building and design directory with interactive capabilities to be published next year.

  The Hong Kong-based media company, which specialises in trade publications, is launching the directories International Building and Design Source - - 1998 Hong Kong and China Edition in June.

  The directories, one for China and another for Hong Kong, feature advertisements for suppliers and services to the building trades in either English or Chinese.

   The publication, with a projected cover price of $200, will include a free CD- ROM for readers and advertisers.

  Alice Yu, sales manager for Origin Sources, claimed it was the first such product for the industry in Hong Kong and China.

   The company expected to sell about 200 to 300 advertisements for each directory.

  She said a companion website (http://www.originsources.com) was launched last month to promote the directories and the company's activities.

  'We launched the website because we felt it was an effective and powerful medium to profile all our database information.

  'Our target market is architects, interior designers and contractors and this is the type of website they will find beneficial in doing their work,' Ms Yu said.
