Haircut led to birth, trial told

A hairdresser was accused of having sex with a mentally handicapped woman who later gave birth to a baby boy, the District Court heard yesterday.

Lam Kin-kwan, 36, allegedly had sex with the 18-year-old four times in July and August last year.

On one occasion, the teenager went with her brother and sister to his salon for a haircut, the court heard.

Prosecutor Bianca Cheng claimed that when the victim came out of the washroom, Lam pushed her into the toilet booth and had sex with her.

About five months later, her mother discovered that the alleged victim had put on weight. A doctor who examined her found that she was pregnant.

Ms Cheng said the defendant had once given the woman $20 after sex.
