The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CU) has launched two new courses aimed at giving senior business executives better communications skills for the workplace.

The Diploma Course in Management Communication and the Certificate Course in Business Communication will be offered by CU's Asia-Pacific Institute of Business (APIB) and the Faculty of Business Administration.

The diploma course is for executives from the public and private sector including education.

APIB operation manager Annie Tam Au Wan-yee said: 'It is not a business course, but a course based on real situations in the business sector.' About 40 students are expected to enrol next month and applicants must take an entrance test.

Those applying should have a bachelors degree or higher/ advanced diploma; matriculation with at least five years' working experience in an executive position; or school-leavers' certificate (Form Five graduates) with at least seven years' experience in an executive position.

Those not meeting these requirements can apply instead for the Certificate Course in Business Communication which will be offered from February next year.
