A maid kidnapped her employer's young son and shared the $200,000 ransom with a relative, San Po Kong Court heard yesterday.
Elvira Nunez, 20, facing a kidnapping charge, allegedly took the four-year-old boy from the York English Kindergarten at Kowloon Tong on Monday and telephoned her employer, saying she and the boy had been abducted by a gang demanding $200,000 ransom.
Posing as a gobetween, Nunez collected the money from the boy's father, Ng Chik-fai, at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and she and the boy returned home later that day, the court heard.
Police allegedly recovered the ransom, divided into two equal bundles, from Nunez's relative, Noble Bautista, 35, who is charged with handling the cash.
No pleas were taken. Magistrate Ronald Cheung adjourned the case to September 19. Nunez and Bautista were remanded in custody.
