Budapest: Zoltan Czibor, Hungary's left wing in the Magyars' 'Golden Team' who beat England 6-3 at Wembley in 1953, died at the age of 69 yesterday following a long illness.

Having made the grade in the domestic soccer arena with Ferencvaros, Csepeli Vasas and Budapest Honved, Czibor won enduring fame after starring for the Hungarian eleven who handed England their first home defeat.

He fled Hungary after the 1956 anti-Soviet revolution and played in Italy, Spain and Austria with AS Roma, Barcelona, Espanol and Austria Vienna before hanging up his boots.
