Democratic Party economic affairs spokesmen Huang Chen-ya and Albert Ho Chun-yan yesterday met stock exchange chief executive Alex Tsui Yiu-wa and assistant director Roger Lee to express concern over the closure of Hing Shing Investment Company's branch office. The branch closed last month after its managers disappeared. More than 90 clients complained to police and some expressed concern to the Democrats. The exchange has appointed an accounting firm to audit the branch's trading records, Mr Huang added that 78 clients with a total investment of $40 million may be compensated by Hing Shing's major shareholder. Mr Huang said the Democrats had discovered branches of some other brokerage firms had problems similar to Hing Shing's branch.
