Diaoyu activists yesterday vowed to go ahead with a voyage to the disputed islands this month despite the dismantling of the makeshift lighthouse that sparked the controversy. The Hong Kong protesters said the pulling down of the lighthouse and a ban on landings by Japanese right-wing groups were just gestures by Tokyo to demonstrate its sovereignty over the islands. 'The Japanese Government is actually giving China a slap in the face,' said Yuen Man-huen of the Action Committee for Defending the Diaoyu Islands.
