Three players who were out of the frame for most of Hong Kong's international schedule last season will get their chance to make an early impression on national coach George Simpkin at the COBRA 10s in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.
Hong Kong Football Club forwards Hamish Bowden and Will Wild, and DeA winger Mark Solomon, were included in a 12-strong squad named yesterday by Simpkin for the 16-team international tournament.
Hong Kong have been grouped with Fiji, Argentina and Zimbabwe.
The rest of the team are made up of players who featured in last season's Pacific Rim series. One more player - likely to be Rick Muik - will be added to the squad who leave on Friday.
Simpkin is not expecting much from the players, who are coming off a two-month break.
'It will be very difficult for us as we have not had a proper training run due to the wet weather and people being away,' said Simpkin.
