Police officers are borrowing PLA bases for training after reaching an agreement with the troops. Police liaison officer for the PLA, Senior Superintendent Sidney Fung Kwok-on, said officers had been using the Castle Peak firing range and camps at Sek Kong and San Wai for exercises. 'The PLA has been very helpful and our liaison with them is good. They have agreed to allow us to use their sites, as we find their facilities appropriate for our training purposes,' Mr Fung said. The drills were for operational units such as the Police Tactical Unit and the Emergency Unit. He said the sites were used as often as when police had filed applications to the British garrison. The PLA had allowed police use of the sites free of charge - the same as the British arrangement.
