A former employee of Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa's family shipping company was yesterday accused of accepting $97,000 in bribes from a transport firm. Koo Yiu-wah, 38, formerly a sales manager for Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), denied 10 charges of accepting advantages. Li Chau-hung, owner of land transport firm Lee & Company, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of offering bribes. Li, in a bid to build up business, offered monthly payments to Koo who would, in return, introduce customers to her for land transport arrangements, Eastern Court was told. Koo was not permitted by his company to accept payments from Li, the court heard. The alleged offences took place between November 1993 and February 1996, when Mr Tung was chairman of OOCL.
