A retired primary-school teacher accused of molesting four students claimed yesterday one of the pupils had signed a card asking him to remain their teacher.
The 62-year-old man received a card from a group of students asking him to return, Richard Wong, defending, said.
One of the alleged victims had drawn a picture of a girl crying on the card with a note begging the defendant to 'come back and be our class teacher', he said.
The teacher denies four charges of indecent assault.
Prosecutor Susanna Ku Pui-fong said he stroked four girls, aged 10 and 11, under their skirts between September 1995 and July last year.
A colleague told the court he was an honest and a responsible teacher who cared for his pupils. 'All students welcome him and he takes his job seriously,' he said.
