A retired primary-school teacher accused of molesting four students claimed yesterday one of the pupils had signed a card asking him to remain their teacher. The 62-year-old man received a card from a group of students asking him to return, Richard Wong, defending, said. One of the alleged victims had drawn a picture of a girl crying on the card with a note begging the defendant to 'come back and be our class teacher', he said. The teacher denies four charges of indecent assault. Prosecutor Susanna Ku Pui-fong said he stroked four girls, aged 10 and 11, under their skirts between September 1995 and July last year. A colleague told the court he was an honest and a responsible teacher who cared for his pupils. 'All students welcome him and he takes his job seriously,' he said. Ms Ku said when the girls went to the teacher's desk to ask about homework or learning problems, he lifted their skirts and touched them. At least two boys reported seeing the teacher touch the girls, the court heard. The trial continues before Judge Wong Hing-chun today.
